Hans Soldan GmbH is the leading provider of practice supplies, specialist media and office services for lawyers, notaries, tax consultants and auditors in Germany.

The business idea goes back to the lawyer Hans Soldan. More than 100 years ago he founded the company to reliably supply professional colleagues with office articles at attractive prices. Soldan still follows this remit today and is constantly expanding its product range. The traditional company employs a staff of about 200 and has its head office in Essen, in the heart of the Ruhr area. Soldan’s customers include 90 percent of Germany’s lawyers and notaries.

More than 40,000 articles are on offer in the soldan.de online shop. The range includes specialist and office supplies and equipment, technology, furniture and specialist literature and online media. More than 1,700 packages are sent to practices throughout Germany on average every day. The company has its own efficient inbound and outbound call centre and a nationwide key account sales team.

Digitalisation is advancing inexorably in practices. Alongside the mail order business, Soldan is also an innovative service and solution provider on the legal advice and tax consultancy market. Soldan’s employees know the specific requirements in practices inside out and constantly explore the market for new industry solutions. The company offers a number of products to equip the practice infrastructure for the digital world.

The assortment ranges from VDSL connections, products for file and document management, encryption technologies to Cloud solutions and special applications for mobile end devices.

Other focuses are the outsourcing of secretarial and telephone service work as well as offers for the practices’ marketing and knowledge management.

In addition, the company offers seminars and further training. Soldan organised the first "Anwaltszukunftskongress" (Lawyers’ Future Congress) in Germany together with Wolters Kluwer in September 2016. National and international experts addressed legal tech and advancing digitalisation at this congress all about the future of legal advice.

Soldan’s customers value above all the expertise, quality, reliability and good value for money of what is on offer. Roughly 78 percent would recommend the company to others. Soldan was awarded for its customer service in 2015 and received the title "Deutschlands Kundenchampion Nr. 1" (Germany’s Number 1 Customer Champion).

The company has charitable commitments and fosters close partnerships with professionals, chambers and associations. The Foundation "Soldan Stiftung" is one of the most important funding agencies in the German legal profession. It organises the Soldan Moot, an annual competition for students and supports advocacy institutions as well as university facilities. These include the independent Soldan Institute, the only empirical research facility for the Lawyer profession’s developments in Germany. Its regularly published research projects include among others the "Statistisches Jahrbuch der Anwaltschaft" (Advocacy Statistical Yearbook). The "Soldan Kanzlei-Gründerpreis", a prize for Practice Founders, is awarded every two years. Soldan wants to encourage lawyers to establish their own practice and award successful business concepts with this competition for practice founders.

Soldan is expanding rapidly and developing new targeted and tailored offers for authorities, banks, building societies and insurance providers.
